Fred DeCicco: Flyfishing Argentina for Golden Dorado and Trout

MSFC stalwart Fred DeCicco gives a virtual presentation on fly fishing for trout and golden dorado in South America for the December meeting of the Midnight Sun Fly Casters. Fred focused on Lake Strobel trout and Rio Parana golden dorado, showing pictures from several trips he took to South America.

Fred is a long-time MSFC member and worked as a Fisheries Biologist with ADFG from the 80’s until he retired in 2006. At ADFG, he researched and managed Dolly Varden, grayling, whitefish, and other species of sport and subsistence importance, primarily in Northwest Alaska.

More recently, Fred has been involved with and guided for Twin Peaks Adventures in Nome, which offers helicopter-access fishing for trophy grayling, Dolly Varden, salmon, and pike. He’s also a Certified Casting Instructor through the International Federation of Fly Fishers.

He’s fished throughout the world including in New Zealand, Australia, Mexico, Christmas Island, Argentina and French Polynesia, and so he has a great deal of knowledge on destination trips, some of which he’ll be sharing with us tonight.
