Entirely conceived, composed, and staged by internationally acclaimed violinist, composer, and inter- and multidisciplinary artist Yury Revich, HUMAN is a live, interdisciplinary performance that blurs the boundaries between music, movement, sculpture, and collective ritual.
Imagined as an evolving living sculpture, the work unfolds in real time at the heart of the audience — merging sound, gesture, and technology into a unified, vibrant organism. Each performer begins as an autonomous character, distinct in space and sound, receiving individualized electronic stimuli via an in-ear system. As the performance develops, individuality and collectivity dissolve into an emergent process of interaction and transformation.
“HUMAN is both a sculpture in motion and an act of becoming. It embodies a fundamental philosophical question: What makes us human? It explores freedom and interdependence, vulnerability and synchronicity, until the final form — a unified organism composed of many — is revealed.”— Yury Revich
Presented live, with each musician individually miked and integrated into an electronic ecosystem, HUMAN is not merely seen or heard — it is inhabited.
Before the premiere of HUMAN, the evening opened with two preluding works that form its conceptual prologue.
The first is an unrevealed violin introduction by Yury Revich, a personal invocation — a threshold between silence and sound.
The second, inspired by John Cage’s 4’33”, meditates on the impossibility of true silence. In this piece, nine musicians move with extreme slowness toward a Chinese gong, passing a single mallet between them as a minimalist clock-ticking soundscape unfolds and gradually accelerates. When the final musician reaches the gong, the stage falls into total darkness. The gong is never struck — a quiet homage to Cage and to the ultimate silence of death.
From that suspended stillness, HUMAN emerges as a rebirth — echoing ancient Chinese traditions that see life as a continuous cycle of dissolution and renewal.

These works continue Yury Revich’s exploration of collective embodiment, sonic storytelling, and transdisciplinary expression — a journey from silence to sound, from stillness to becoming, from nothingness to HUMAN
