US Bishops Notice Trend of Vandalism at Catholic Churches Across US | EWTN News Nightly

Описание: US bishops have noticed a trend of Catholic Churches and statues being vandalized. In Washington DC, a crime on Catholic property was caught on video. In December, a statue of Our Lady of Fatima, outside the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, was vandalized. Mary's face was beaten with a hammer and her hands were knocked off too. This month outside of Detroit, Michigan, a man was charged with breaking into a Catholic Church, damaging property and destroying windows. Last month, in Georgia, religious statues was destroyed outside a Catholic parish, and in Ohio, there was a fire that investigators say was deliberately set at a Catholic school, causing $1 million in damage. According to continually updated numbers from the USCCB, "At least 126 incidents have occurred across 35 states and the District of Columbia since May 2020." Correspondent Mark Irons reports on the recent spike in cases, as the clergy look for answers.
