Описание: The Vesper isn’t a very good drink, but can it be improved?

James Bond has always had a reputation for being a heavy drinker, but his knowledge of drinks is limited by one man—Ian Flemming. How much Ian Flemming knew about drinks is anyone’s guess, and the book version of the Vesper may not even have been created by him; it may have been created by his friend, Ivar Bryce. In any case, I’ve never loved this drink (I’ll take a plain ol’ gin martini, thanks), but that doesn’t mean there’s room for improvement.

Original Vesper
1.5oz/45ml gin
.5oz/15ml vodka
.25oz/7ml Cocchi Americano or other bitter apéritif

Improved Vesper
1.5oz/45ml vodka
1oz/30ml gin
.5/15ml Cocchi Americano

It’s worth noting that In Casino Royale, Bond verbalizes a preference for grain vodka over potato vodka. I challenge you (if you have the means) to make two of these, one with grain vodka and the other with potato vodka, and honestly say you can tell the difference.
