Ashley Burchett - performing as ø [Phase] - is a minimal techno producer, mastering engineer, and artwork designer whose relationship with electronic music dates back to a cassette tape of Detroit recordings he received in 1988. That early exposure shaped everything that followed: a meticulous, disciplined approach to sound that places him squarely in the lineage of warehouse-ready British techno, alongside artists like Surgeon and Luke Slater. His debut track Module Overload was promoted by Steve Bicknell in 1999, and he has since built a catalogue of releases on Token Records in Belgium, Mote Evolver, and his own Modwerks imprint.

His music is concerned with themes of time and space, and it shows in the texture of his tracks: stark, stripped-back, and intensely purposeful. There is nothing wasted in a ø [Phase] set - every element placed with the precision of a mastering engineer, which is, of course, exactly what he is outside of the booth. The result is techno that rewards deep listening while simultaneously pulling the dancefloor apart at the seams.
