Singapore Day 2–3 🇸🇬 | Heritage Walks, Michelin Hawkers, Gardens & Final Food Crawl
Day 2 and 3 in Singapore were all about heritage neighborhoods, legendary hawker food, lush city spaces, and a proper last-day feast before flying home.
We started the day in Tanjong Pagar, one of Singapore’s oldest districts and now a fascinating mix of heritage shophouses and modern cafés. Breakfast was at the iconic Ya Kun Kaya Toast, a homegrown brand that dates back to the 1940s and helped define Singapore’s kopi culture.
From there, we explored Chinatown, spotting the famous street murals and walking through Old Smith Street, once known for its wet markets and street hawkers. Today, it’s a living blend of history, food, and creative spaces.
Book lovers, this one’s for you 📚 — we stopped by Littered With Books, a beloved independent bookstore and Book Bar that champions local writers, poetry, and intimate literary events.
Lunch was at Maxwell Food Centre, home to one of Singapore’s most famous hawker stalls: Tian Tian Hainanese Chicken Rice, awarded a Michelin star and praised internationally for turning a humble dish into culinary art.
In the afternoon, we headed to Marina One, often described as a “green heart” in the CBD, proving once again how Singapore integrates nature into urban design.
We then walked to Marina Bay Financial Centre and went up to Level 33—the world’s highest urban craft microbrewery. Over a paddle of beers, fries, skyline views, and 90s music, it was easily one of the most relaxed moments of the trip.
Then it was time for one of Singapore’s must-see attractions: Gardens by the Bay.
🦖 The Cloud Forest featured a Jurassic-themed experience with moving dinosaur displays inside the misty dome
🚂 The Flower Dome hosted a Christmas train exhibition celebrating 60 years of diplomatic relations between Singapore and Denmark
We stayed for the Supertree Grove light show before having dinner at Jurassic Nest Food Hall, where I had Hawker Chan’s soy sauce roast chicken with rice—another Michelin-recognized favorite.
The following morning, it was a quiet walk around Geylang, a neighborhood often misunderstood but rich in local food culture. Breakfast was Jalan Sultan Prawn Mee, a Michelin-recognized stall.
Then it was a visit to Chinatown to hang out at the Old Smith Street Starbucks, which offers Singapore-exclusive drinks, pastries, merchandise, and collaborations with local artists—part cafe, part cultural showcase.
Lunch with the family was at Lor 9 Beef Kway Teow, another Michelin-recognized spot. Let’s just say… it was a feast worthy of a final day.
No Singapore trip ends without souvenirs so we stocked up on Bee Cheng Hiang's bak kwa and edible souvenirs before heading to Changi Airport.
✈️ The journey home was on Philippine Airlines’ new A350-1000 from Singapore to Manila—check out the separate video for the full flight experience!
If you love food, walkable cities, and travel that blends culture with comfort, this one’s for you.
