Hey there, this is Gretchen Coley with The Coley Group at Allan Tate.
And for those of you who are trying to sell your home during this pandemic
most likely you have some questions about how that works with strangers entering your home,
and you probably have some concerns around that. We at The Coley Group at Allen Tate want to
help you take the steps to help reduce the spread of this virus
while continuing to work with you as a home seller.
So I wanted to share some information from myself and from Allen Tate
to help keep you safe. We recommend that you
as a home seller use these tips to help keep your family safe
and healthy during the selling process. Consider adjusting your open house rules
and to best adhere to social distancing practices,
and I personally recommend only allowing showings by appointment. This
ensures that only serious buyers are entering your home
and that minimizes the amount of foot traffic from the general public in your home. You can ask
your agent to pre-screen your buyers prior to entering the home
and ask them to only schedule visits if they've had a low risk of exposure.
You can use video marketing to help get your home in front of buyers,
so they can vet it before they enter as well.
You can place a place card at the entryway of your home
and just ask for that request that if they've been
ill or come into contact with someone who has been ill to
please not enter. You can provide easy access to hand sanitizers, Clorox wipes,
even a basket of booties and gloves would be wonderful to have
accessible in your home. Leave your interior doors open
and leave your lights on.
So that buyers don't have to flip that light switch.
They don't have to touch the handles of the doors.
It'll save you so much stress
when you're coming to cleaning your surfaces. Wipe down all the surfaces following showings of your
home and disinfect your home with proper cleaning supplies after any open
house if you choose to do those. If you start to feel sick
or learn that you've been in contact with someone who has the suspecting virus call
your agent to discuss your selling strategy moving forward.
