Tides of War was added to Battlefield 5, and with it came ways to unlock things other than simply leveling up. However, this seems to add a little bit, but maybe not a lot of content to Battlefield 5.
The way I see Tides of War is like this: it makes it so that casual players can unlocks things a fast rate. See, these challenges only take about 3-5 hours to go through, which is the perfect time for people who only get to play on the weekends.
