Freight Train Day
Sunday 28th September 2025
The Tanfield's last Freight Train Day of the 2025 season saw Robert Stephenson Works No 2730 0-6-0T No 3 Twizell out on a demonstration goods train alongside on passenger service Andrew Barclay Works No 1659 0-4-0ST East Tanfield Colliery Company Ltd Stanley on the vintage passenger service.
Andrew Barclay Works No 1015 0-6-0ST Horden has been booked on passenger services original and can be seen on shed at Marley Hill, the world's oldest working engine shed.
Featured in this video are the last freight and passenger workings of the day and the shunting of the freight into the sidings at Marley Hill and engines returning to shed (with Twizell heading off to collect Austerity 49 from East Tanfield recently arrived back from the Severn Valley Railway Steam Gala).
This year see's the Tanfield Railway's 300th Anniversary.
