Science doesn't make decisions: people do. This is true even when building computer models. In this 24-minute film, Professor Eric Winsberg— widely recognized for bringing the study of computer simulation to philosophy of science— shares his views on COVID-19 models, including their moral significance and influence on society.
Financial support for this film was provided through a research project funded by the BC SUPPORT Unit’s Health Economics and Simulation Modelling Methods Cluster.
The project is part of an ongoing collaboration to better understand the role of social and ethical decisions in modelling and the case for greater public involvement in research.
