Being fascinated by AA fire, I spend the whole day trialing Akizuki and
Isuzu AA fire to determine the best way to stop kamikazes.

To record them in multiple VLC and MPC instances is my dream! But my GPU
couldn't record all the streams despite CPU decoding being used in VLC!
An 2160p HEVC video is enough to overload the RX 5600 XT encoder save
for two of the attempts without 3 streams. A good heater this computer
is.

Isuzu and Akizuki are some of the best AA ships in the IJN line. But
they aren't, it is different. IJN does not have the fancy HE-VT that
Americans and Brits have. Those HE-VT shells explode once their tiny
radars detect nearby aircraft in their death range.
Isuzu and Akizuki only have HE-TF shells which is as good as normal HE.
When fired manually, the shells explode at the rangefinder's range at
the moment, making it impossible to hit aircraft as they will be furthur
away or closer by the time the shell reaches them. A direct hit is
required to down aircraft. The AI gunners indeed set the fuse better,
but they are retarded and don't aim most of the times. They might do
something every now and then.
Isuzu and Akizuki has so many short ranged Type 96 25mm autocannons of
effective range 2km and under, but it should be possible to get a hit at
5km. Arcade and realistic planes to some extent, can just wobble and
shake their way through AA fire, but not with us, because they can fire
in a large bubble making any evasive moves useless, it would increase
the aircraft's exposed size instead! The only question is whether
aircraft can be hit while flying straight.

I did in fact spend some lunch money to max out Isuzu's crew outside of
the CDK and upgrade them to ace for 550 eagles and with auxillary
cannons maxed (I made the mistake of maxing AA in the past). There is no
skill for the main guns' accuracy. Maxed out AA gunners can shoot down
aircraft, but if they are coming for you, they will probably
successfully kamikaze you. Whenever possible, a fight with a aircraft
should be done in manual.
