IT IS NOT GOOD TO BE ALONE ❤️
Today’s devotional comes from Genesis 2:18:
“It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper suitable for him.”
From the very beginning, God declared that we were not created to do life alone.
Marriage isn’t about sameness.
It’s about complementing strengths and weaknesses.
It’s about partnership.
It’s about helping one another finish the race.
Sometimes that help looks like encouragement.
Sometimes it looks like advocacy.
Sometimes it looks like sitting beside someone in a hospital room.
The word “helper” in Genesis doesn’t mean secondary or lesser. It carries the idea of strength, support, and empowerment. The same word is even used elsewhere in Scripture to describe God as our helper.
When two people are aligned in purpose — even if they communicate differently, think differently, and operate differently — they can accomplish far more together than apart.
Pride says, “I don’t need help.”
Wisdom says, “God gave me a helper.”
Marriage is strongest when:
• We allow each other to use our God-given strengths
• We stop competing and start complementing
• We fight for unity instead of fighting each other
When we are on the same page, it’s harmony.
When we’re not… well, that’s where humility and grace come in.
God didn’t design us to walk alone. He designed us to walk together.
SCRIPTURE FOCUS
Genesis 2:18
REFLECTION
• Do you allow your spouse to help you in areas where you’re weak?
• Are you strengthening and empowering your spouse — or criticizing them?
• Are you working toward the same mission together?
PRAYER
Lord, thank You for the gift of partnership.
Help us to strengthen, encourage, and empower one another.
Teach us humility when we struggle.
Unify our hearts and our mission.
Amen.
