This is a walkthrough and deep-dive into John Williams use of variation in this film music themes. It's based upon a paper written by Mark Richards, and various tutorials found on the internet. It's main focus is the various techniques and approches John Williams uses to create and vary his themes, and how you as a composer can utilize and learn from these and put them into practice. In the second half of the movie, an orchestral sketch is made from scratch, where several of these techniques and approaches are used. Other influences for the melodic material includes Newman, Menken and Gregson-Williams.
