A Night In Floridas Forgotten Pines

Описание: I spent this time deep in Florida’s pine rocklands in Big Cypress Everglades with my dog Odin, building and moving through the Everglades the old way. I’ve been getting more and more into making primitive bows, and this trip gave me the chance to slow down and really work with the land instead of fighting it.



In this video I build a simple stick bow from native wood and an elevated swamp bed to stay above the water and insects. While I’m working, I talk about the history tied into this place, how native people relied on bows to hunt and survive here, and how the Everglades later became a hidden training ground for Cuban exile militia groups preparing to take their country back.

The pine rocklands are one of the most overlooked and endangered ecosystems in Florida, and being out here you can still see the balance between fire, water, and human impact. A lot of this land holds stories most people never hear, and once it’s gone, it’s gone for good.

This isn’t about bushcraft tricks or pretending to live in another time. It’s about paying attention to the ground you’re standing on, understanding what came before you, and respecting what’s still here.
