IPS Officer Harassed During Midnight Safety Check In Hyderabad

Описание: Malkajgiri Commissioner of Police IPS Sumathi reportedly faced harassment while conducting a late-night reality check to assess women’s safety in Hyderabad. Dressed in plain clothes, the senior officer stood alone at the Dilsukhnagar bus stop between 12.30 am and 3.30 am to observe how women are treated in public spaces during late hours.

During the operation, several men allegedly approached her with inappropriate remarks and behaviour, with police sources claiming many appeared to be under the influence of alcohol or ganja. Around 40 people were later identified and counselled by the police. The exercise was aimed at understanding the ground reality of women’s safety and sending a strong message against harassment in public spaces.
