Описание: In this interview with long-time technology journalist John Markoff, he offers exciting stories about technology in Silicon Valley spanning decades. Markoff has covered Silicon Valley since the early 1980s and reported on business and digital technology for the New York Times for 18 years. He has written on a wide variety of topics over those decades, from the environmental damage of digital industries, the lives of hackers, the nanotechnology, to the role of Bay Area counterculture in computing, to the ethics of robotics and artificial intelligence. In this interview, John and I first talk about his long career. He was a tech journalist long before that idea even existed. I wanted to hear how he became such a person. And second, I talk with him about his new book, Whole Earth, The Many Lives of Stewart Brand, which is also very much a story of Silicon Valley.
