this rose is a firm favourite of mine, and has proved itself time and time again, not only for its outstanding, flowering capabilities. Its vigour health and ability to hold its flowers, sky Wards, and exceptional fragrance.

The perfect all-rounder so good. In fact, I had to get another one just in case I could no longer get hold of it. I have one planted in full sun on a west facing aspect, receiving around 6 to 7 hours of direct sunlight every day and another planted on an east facing shady spot receiving just three hours per day, both flower and flower Cementing them well within my top 20 most recommended David Austin roses, three years in a row

Sceptred isle has it all, producing wave after wave of pure, brilliant, pink flowers that are deeply cupped, but not overly fussy, each containing a resplendent, glowing eye of golden statements at their centre

The shrub is woody and upright reaching a little over 5 feet tall, flowering freely in June, July, August and even into September, it will also produce fairly decent hips if left un deadheaded at the end of the season

Colour, vigour, disease, resistance, and flowering capability aside. It’s the fragrance on this particular rose, which carries it and why I love it so much.

The fragrance is Rich full of myrth, I pick up on notes of sandalwood, leather and warm edges of frankincense.
