The Battery Abuse Test Site at HORIBA MIRA's HQ in Nuneaton enables customers to safely perform abuse tests on a wide range of battery packs.
Tests are conducted within a secure compound in a controllable and repeatable way.
The facility supports regulatory tests for R100 and UN38.3 as well as development work. Drop tests can be performed and the facility features a hydraulic rig for crush testing and nail penetration. Short circuit testing can be performed at cell, module and pack level and thermal propagation and fire resistance tests are also carried out within the facility.
The facility can also be used for bespoke tests and is fully adaptable for non-standard test requests.
Batteries can be instrumented onsite and a professional teardown team can assess how batteries have reacted to testing.
Safe storage and testing of confidential materials can also be provided.
