The Nova began life in 1962 as the Chevy II—a back-to-basics compact designed to counter Ford’s Falcon. By 1968, the Nova had evolved into a true muscle contender, especially in SS trim. The 1971 model marked a turning point: the end of big-block options like the 396, and the beginning of a shift toward more refined performance. The SS still packed a punch, with a 350 CID V8 rated at 270 HP from the factory—but this build takes it to the next level with a custom 355 CID V8 and modern Pro Touring upgrades.
