NAME CALLING AND VERBAL ABUSE BY BORDERLINE, NARCISSISTIC AND EMOTIONALLY IMMATURE PARENTS

Описание: So, I was on Tik Tok last Friday night, (yes, I have a bunch of teen kids and patients, so I like to know what is going on - lol - and, to be honest, some of it is pretty entertaining content! And, we are in a pandemic, and one can only work so much, watch so much Netflix, hang out with family, meditate, read, exercise, eat.... and did I say eat!???😳😳😳)

Ok, so back to being triggered....There are a lot of really funny videos using audio of kids cursing in animal videos or the actual kids themselves cursing, and, while it's debatable whether or not you might want to allow your toddler to curse - what bothered me was a video of a mom calling her toddler a name, because NAME CALLING by Borderline, Narcissistic and/or Emotionally Immature parents is VERY COMMON.

I am not saying the mom in the video is abusive or that these videos are - each parent (as long as there is no harm) is welcome to parent as they see fit. And, one can argue that it's likely a toddler won't even remember using this language, especially if it stops.

However, over 60% of parents name call their kids using labeling and/or curse words (a-hole, b-tch, etc) specifically, in some form, and I do not believe, nor does the research support, that this is a good idea.

In fact, in many cases, it IS VERBAL ABUSE, and for a large majority of BPD, NPD and/or Emotionally Immature parents, name calling is part of the game, and it can be incredibly damaging to our sense of selves, as well as to the literal structure of our brains.
