Make Your Chamois Cream

Описание: Buying chamois cream is a convenience, but an expensive one. Different brands mix in various ingredients, not necessarily to create a better product, but to create brand "identity". The list of ingredients that matter is usually fairly consistent however.

In this video I demonstrate a "recipe" to make it at home from readily available ingredients, some of which, maybe all, you might own already. The cost is easily 50% less than even the least expensive commercial formula, and in some cases (Assos for example), it's a dramatic difference. My formula yields about 225 grams (8oz), and costs less than $5.00 usd. Assos is about $25-$29 for about 5.5 ounces. If you like using chamois cream, give this a try. I've been using it (or versions of this formula) for years. My 70-year-old ass is doing just fine.

The demonstration refers to a print out of a formula, but it can be altered incrementally to suit yourself. The video explains how. It's not hard at all.

In addition, the formula is written in a spreadsheet so the user can input different values for the amount of each ingredient to tailor their own style, and the spreadsheet will auto calculate the rest of the data. For example, change the ingredient amounts, and it will automatically recalculate the cost of the formula. I used costs per gram based on the costs for the ingredients I found on Amazon. You can do it too. There's a conversion in the spreadsheet for ounces to grams.

Note that the spreadsheet available in the link below has a modified formula (yielding a slightly firmer finished consistency) from what I demonstrated in the vdo. The vdo demonstration guesstimated my typical product composition. After making it, I adjusted it to dial it in closer to what I usually make. You can make it a little harder if desired by increasing the percentage of Shea butter, or decreasing the other ingredient amounts, but I wouldn’t make it softer.
