Описание: Hi friends and music lovers! Today’s #texasstyletuesday involves both a personal throwback and a threepeat. That’s right, this is the 3rd F tune in a row. I give you, the venerable Texas Serenade! Also known as Fort Worth Rag, because god forbid one of these tunes has just one title. In other news, this tune brings back such excellent memories for me. You see, back in the summers of the mid-80’s, @happilyknitting and I would hang out together all day and do two things. 1) Watch @athletics baseball and 2) Learn fiddle tunes from cassettes and records we begged, borrowed, and stole from our friends. We’d split up and each learn a tune and then get back together in front of the tv and teach other the tunes we’d learned. This tune was one of my assignments and I used a bootleg jam cassette of Jimmie Don Bates to learn it. The key of C section (the B part, more or less) has a bit of an improvised feel because I learned whatever he was actually improvising. I imagine I’ve modified it a bit since 1987 but this is basically the way I heard it all the way back then. Wait, it was actually three things. During those summers we also obsessively practiced our own secret handshake which involved many maneuvers, including the signature Bash Brothers post-home-run forearm smash. A little off topic, that last part. But I wanted to make sure to fully set the scene. Enjoy this great swing tune. Full version here on the IGTV and on Facebook and YouTube.
