✝️ “He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.”
Revelation 21 verse 4, NLT
✝️ “For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, the believers who have died will rise from their graves. Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Then we will be with the Lord forever.”
1 Thessalonians 4 verses 16-17, NLT
VIDEO OVERVIEW:
Why did this hike remind us of the above Bible verses? Because, as we were enjoying a peaceful stroll through a beautiful forest on a lovely trail, we came to a side path that wandered behind a towering cedar tree. The trail seemed mysterious, as though it would lead to a secret hiding place or might reveal a hidden treasure if we followed it. Our curiosity piqued, we followed the rock-lined path and found a beautifully carved wood bench with an antique telephone nearby. On an adjacent tree was a sign revealing the secret of the phone: it was a "Wind Phone." Below is a link so you can learn more about Wind Phones.
Though one can't actually talk to their departed loved ones via this or any other phone, the idea is to bring healing and comfort to those who are grieving the loss of a loved one.
"Skagit Trail Builders executive director Jim Taylor crafted the bench from cedar that fell during the windstorms of 2024. The dusty pink rotary phone was donated by Beth Ruth from United General District 304 — it had belonged to her grandmother."
