This video documents the full transformation of an inherited bull pendant — from its original 14 karat gold form into a newly fabricated piece in sterling silver and 22 karat gold.
The pendant belonged to a friend of mine, inherited from her grandmother — fittingly, given her last name is Bull, even though the pendant came from the other side of her family. She wanted to honor that history while bringing the piece into a more modern, intentional form.
We began by carefully melting and refining portions of the original gold, bringing it up to 22k. Some of the remaining material was exchanged and reintroduced, allowing the entire piece to stay materially and symbolically connected to its origin. From that process, a new motif emerged — a bull horn — tying together name, symbol, and lineage.
You’ll see the gold alloyed, rolled into large sheet, and later cut and fused directly onto the pendant. The piece is fully fabricated using sterling silver and 22k gold, incorporating kumbu, fusion techniques, laser welding, and traditional soldering. Small 24k gold stars are fused into the surface as subtle points of light.
This video shows the process from start to finish — melting, rolling, fabrication, and assembly. When the piece was finished and delivered, it aligned perfectly with her vision — simple, elegant, and deeply personal.
This is the kind of work I care most about: statement pieces rooted in meaning, meant to be carried forward.
