ಯಾವುದೇ ಅತ್ಯಾಧುನಿಕ ಸೌಲಭ್ಯಗಳಿಲ್ಲ, ದುಬಾರಿ ಕೋಚಿಂಗ್ ಸೆಂಟರ್ ಮೆಟ್ಟಿಲು ಹತ್ತಿಲ್ಲ. ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್ ಸರಿಯಾಗಿ ಬರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ ಎಂಬ ಕೀಳರಿಮೆ. ಆದರೂ ಸತತ ಏಳು ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಕಾಲ ಛಲ ಬಿಡದೆ ಓದಿ, ದೇಶದ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಕಠಿಣವಾದ UPSC ಪರೀಕ್ಷೆಯನ್ನು ಪಾಸ್ ಮಾಡುವ ಮೂಲಕ ಮಂಡ್ಯದ ಕರದನಹಳ್ಳಿಯ ರೈತನ ಮಗ ಧನಂಜಯ್.ಆರ್ ಇತಿಹಾಸ ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ವಿಜಯ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ವೆಬ್‌ ಜೊತೆ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ ಅವರು, ಬೆಳಗ್ಗೆ ಎದ್ದು ಹಸುವಿನ ಹಾಲು ಕರೆದು, ಸಗಣಿ ಬಳಿದು ಕೃಷಿ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಧನಂಜಯ್‌ಗೆ ಐಎಎಸ್ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿ ದಿ. ಡಿ.ಕೆ.ರವಿ ಅವರೇ ಸ್ಫೂರ್ತಿ. ಹತ್ತನೇ ತರಗತಿವರೆಗೆ ಕನ್ನಡ ಮಾಧ್ಯಮದಲ್ಲೇ ಓದಿದ್ದ ಇವರಿಗೆ ಆರಂಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್ ಪತ್ರಿಕೆಗಳನ್ನು ಅರ್ಥಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದೇ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಸವಾಲಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಕೋವಿಡ್ ಲಾಕ್‌ಡೌನ್ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಊರಿಗೆ ಮರಳಿದಾಗ, ಓದಲು ಜಾಗವಿಲ್ಲದೆ ಹಸುವಿನ 'ಕೊಟ್ಟಿಗೆ'ಯನ್ನೇ ಸ್ಟಡಿ ರೂಮ್ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡರು. ಸತತ 6 ಬಾರಿ ಸೋಲುಂಡರು, ಒಮ್ಮೆ ಕೇವಲ 11 ಅಂಕಗಳಿಂದ ರ್ಯಾಂಕ್ ಕೈತಪ್ಪಿ ಕಣ್ಣೀರು ಹಾಕಿದರು. ಸಂಬಂಧಿಕರ ಟೀಕೆಗಳಿಂದ ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಮನೆ ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಆಚೆ ಬರುತ್ತಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಆದರೂ ಎದೆಗುಂದದ ಧನಂಜಯ್, 'ಕನ್ನಡ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ'ವನ್ನು ಐಚ್ಛಿಕ ವಿಷಯವನ್ನಾಗಿ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ದಿನಕ್ಕೆ 10 ಗಂಟೆಗಳ ಕಾಲ ಓದಿ ಕೊನೆಗೂ ಯಶಸ್ಸಿನ ಶಿಖರ ಏರಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ನನ್ನ ನಂಬಿಕೆ ಇದ್ದದ್ದು ನನ್ನ ಪರಿಶ್ರಮದ ಮೇಲೆ ಮಾತ್ರ. ಶ್ರಮವಿದ್ದರೆ ಯಾರು ಬೇಕಾದರೂ ಸಾಧಿಸಬಹುದು ಎನ್ನುವ ಧನಂಜಯ್ ಅವರ ಸಾಧನೆ, ಗ್ರಾಮೀಣ ಭಾಗದ ಸಾವಿರಾರು ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿಗೆ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಸ್ಫೂರ್ತಿಯಾಗಿದೆ.
