Here is the complete overview of Computer Based Information System -
Objectives -
Computer Based Information System
1) Transaction Processing System
2) Management Information System
3) Decision Support System
4) Executed Support System
5) Office Automation & Expert System
Computer Based Information System - It is a manual or computerized set of program or software or hardware or human resources. Which produce managers an appropriate kind of information.
The main purpose of CBIS is to help mangers in decision making steps.
Types of CBIS - There are 6 types of Computer Based Information System which serves different level of managers.
Lower Level Managers - Transaction Processing System.
Middle Level Managers - Management Information System, Decision Support System.
Top Level Managers - Executed Support System.
Non- Managers - Office Automation & Expert System.
Transaction Processing System (TPS) - TPS is a computer based information system that keeps tracks of transaction needed to conduct a business.
Features of TPS -
1) Input & Output - It uses transaction data as input and produce processed transaction data as output ( Such as Bills, Orders etc.).
2) For Lower Level Managers - Because it deals with day to day functions so it is used by supervisory managers.
