APEDA Targets Rs 10,000 Crore Agri-Exports By 2026-2027: Atul Bora

Highlighting the state's export achievements and future potential, Bora expressed optimism about transforming Assam into a key player in global agricultural markets during a recent interaction with *Business North East (BNE)*.

The minister said that Assam will be able to export more agri products in 2025 than last year. 

"By 2026-27, exports from Assam are projected to reach RS 10,000 crores. This is encouraging news and a testament to the efforts of various agencies working together to enhance Assam's agricultural and horticultural output," Atul Bora said while citing data from the *Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA)*.

He further highlighted that the products with immense export potential are rice varieties, including Joha rice, black rice and purple rice, which are highly valued for their unique qualities. 

“The banana market in Goalpara district holds immense export potential,” he said. To achieve these ambitious targets, the agriculture and horticulture departments, along with multiple agencies, are working in close coordination. The minister reaffirmed the state's commitment to transforming the agri-horti sector and expanding its global footprint.

The initiatives align with Assam’s broader vision of strengthening its agricultural economy and establishing itself as a leading exporter of high-quality produce.
