Apparently dead bodies can be in different places for players so in this case I was notified that my dead team mates body must have been on the other side for the enemy making it easy for them to grab the items and grenade.
Look at the items in the inventory, I exit, turn around to talk about something go back and items are missing then that grenade goes off. Player on the ground was the driver and my friend, he was shot by an enemy prone (the direction I look for a second). It was myself and 2 others keeping watch when this happened.
