Race & Sports: Sports Journalist William “Bill” Rhoden

Описание: Thanks to a partnership between the University of Pennsylvania’s Center for Africana Studies, the Wharton Coalition for Equity and Opportunity (Wharton CEO), and the Wharton Sports Analytics Business Initiative (WSABI), the 2024 Race and Sports event returned on April 25 and was hosted by Kenneth L. Shropshire.

Attendees welcomed William “Bill” Rhoden, former award-winning sports columnist for The New York Times and author of Forty Million Dollar Slaves: The Rise, Fall and Redemption of the Black Athlete, and Third and A Mile: The Trials and Triumphs of The Black Quarterback.

He currently serves as a writer-at-large for ESPN’s Andscape, where he acts as a columnist and oversees the Rhoden Fellowship, a program that identifies and trains aspiring African-American journalists from Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Rhoden was elected into the National Sports Media Association’s Hall of Fame in January 2021.
