Makahiki season is a Hawaiian festival that marks the start of the new year. It is a time to celebrate, rest, and strengthen bonds with family and community.

Why is Makahiki season important?
• It is a time to give thanks to Lono, the god of agriculture, rain, health, and peace
• It is a time to rest and rejuvenate before the start of the agricultural season
• It is a time to cleanse the spirit and look forward to the future

This is the 48th annual buffalo big board surfing classic. A day full of surf culture and community. The morning started out with the men’s open, followed by Wa’a and rolling into Supsquatch.

The swell is currently coming in at 2.7ft 14-second intervals out of the west at 279 degrees. The winds are currently offshore from the northeast at 3 knots. The tide is currently falling 1.1ft low tide set at .1ft around 12:32pm.

Participants are required to perform a combination of 10 maneuvers, each ranging from 1-5 points for a duration between 3 and 4 seconds
