The Melbourne to Ballarat line via Bacchus Marsh features some of the longest and heaviest grades on Victoria's mainline network. The highlight of the route from a railfan perspective is the lengthy 1 in 48 Ingliston Bank between Bacchus Marsh and Ballan.
During the late 2000s, grain trains were a common feature on summer evenings, so I often ventured out to the Bacchus Marsh region with my camera to catpure the action. In more recent years, the only regular trains on the line during daylight horus are Vlocity DMUs and the odd Sprinter.
For this video, I've compiled all the footage of freight trains taken on the line between 2008 and 2010.
