Brienz is a village on the northeast shore of Lake Brienz, in Switzerland’s Bernese Oberland region. Brienz is known as the woodcarving village. The village's 18th-century wooden chalets and the sculptures dotted throughout the village are testimonials to its woodcarving tradition and they look as if they are straight from a picture book. Brienz is part of the Inventory of Swiss Heritage Sites.
