2024 Railfanning NS CNO&TP (Rathole) Line - Selected Train Action from Day 5 (12/11/2024)

My goal for the 5th day is to visit the spots north of Somerset, KY, including the Kings Mountain Cut.

While working my way there, I first stopped at Eubank, KY to catch some trains going across the rolling hills in a "roller coaster" motion. Arriving at Kings Mountain, I was treated with mix freight train 123 slowly peeking its head end out of the cut with some foreign power (1 Union Pacific and 2 BNSF's). While I planned to stay at Kings Mountain as long as I can, due to intermodal train 29F holding up train traffic while it was working on an issue with one of its cars (may have stopped on the single track just south of Danville), it was my opportunity to move north a bit to the end of the double track at CP Palm. By the time the train traffic started to move again, I was treated to a couple of meets between trains from both directions. As the day drew to a close (and dusk set upon me), I wrapped up with a few northbound trains back at Eubank while a brief snow squall passed through.

For the 6th and last day (in the next video), I will be working my way south back into Tennessee in preparation to head over to another rail line to wrap up this awesome railfanning trip!
