On February 11, 2026, Arik Air Flight 5N-MJF experienced a serious engine failure during a flight from Lagos to Port Harcourt. The crew detected abnormal engine indications, followed by a loud bang from the left engine, which prompted a precautionary shutdown and a safe diversion to Benin Airport. Thankfully, no injuries were reported, but preliminary visuals show significant damage to the engine. The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) is now probing the incident.
