🚗 From Munich to the Alps
Our journey begins in Munich, the vibrant capital of Bavaria.
Leaving the city behind, we head south on a bright September morning, as open meadows turn into alpine foothills and the majestic peaks of the Alps appear ahead.
By late morning, the temperature climbs to 35 °C, and the golden light makes every valley shimmer.
Crossing the border into Austria, the air changes — cooler, cleaner, and filled with the scent of pine and mountain water.
🌅 Plansee – Austria’s Hidden Alpine Gem
Nestled between steep cliffs, Lake Plansee shines like a turquoise mirror.
On this hot September day, the lake offered a peaceful pause — swimmers and kayakers enjoyed the cool water, while the surrounding mountains reflected perfectly on the still surface.
It’s one of Austria’s most beautiful alpine lakes and a natural bridge between Austria and Bavaria.
🌊 Lechfall – The Roaring Gateway Back to Germany
From Plansee, the road winds through alpine forests and valleys back toward Germany.
Soon, the roar of the Lech River fills the air — the powerful Lechfall, where turquoise water crashes through a narrow gorge, marking the border between the two countries.
The mist sparkles in the sun, and standing on the bridge, you can look back toward Austria and forward toward Füssen, alive with music and celebration.
🏰 Füssen – Street Festival in the Fairytale Town
Just beyond the Lechfall lies Füssen, glowing in the late-summer heat and alive with color.
On this day, the annual street festival filled the old town — music, laughter, food stalls, and local crafts brought the cobbled streets to life.
At 35 °C, people cooled off near the river, enjoyed cold drinks under umbrellas, and danced to live performances beneath the baroque towers.
The smell of grilled food, the sound of guitars, and the rhythm of the crowd made the whole town feel like summer’s grand finale.
