That phone call from "Social Security" warning that your benefits will be suspended, your number is
linked to a crime, or you owe money — and demanding you "verify" your Social Security number or pay
immediately? It's a scam. The real Social Security Administration will never threaten you, never demand
payment by gift card, wire, or crypto, and never pressure you to act right now. This video shows the
new 2026 twist (scammers texting fake employee names and even photos of badges), the four red flags
that give it away, exactly what to do (hang up, don't engage, verify directly), and where to report it
(the SSA Office of the Inspector General). Real government officials don't text you badge photos.
📌 Bottom line: if a "Social Security" call brings threats, urgency, or unusual payment demands, it's
fake. Hang up, call SSA yourself at 1-800-772-1213, and report it.
