TVK chief Vijay files his nomination from Perambur constituency in North Chennai today, marking his direct challenge to Chief Minister M.K. Stalin's DMK in Tamil Nadu assembly elections. Vijay is contesting from two seats - Perambur and Trichy East - both considered DMK strongholds with significant minority populations. Perambur, located just 10-15 minutes from Stalin's Kolathur constituency, has a strong minority presence including Anglo-Christian communities from old railway colonies. Vijay will also campaign in Kolathur, where Stalin is filing his nomination at 12.30pm. In Perambur, Vijay faces incumbent DMK MLA RD Shekhar. Both Perambur and Trichy East are urban constituencies with sizable minority populations, signalling Vijay's strategy to challenge the DMK in its traditional strongholds. Surveys reportedly show favourable projections for TVK in a three-way contest, with PMK fielding a candidate in Perambur while AIDMK and BJP are not contesting the seat.
