"We want to provide more knowledge about the spring festival to people in Beijing. Spring Festival can reflect a lot of cultural things about Chinese history. So I think people can learn more about the evolution of the customs and contents of the Spring Festival from the past to the current days."

STORYLINE:

The Chinese Lunar new year season is also called the Spring Festival or "Chunjie" in Chinese.

According to tradition, it falls on the days between the first day and the 15th day of the first month of the Lunar year.

The first day of the new Lunar year is not a fixed date on the western calendar.

This year it falls on the first of February.

Weeks before the festival, colorful decorations can be seen everywhere in the Chinese capital.

Though it is one of the favoured holidays for most Chinese, few know much about it.

Aiming to give people a full and better picture of the festival, China's Revolutionary Museum is hosting its first ever exhibition on Chinese Lunar new year culture in Beijing.
