The Alfred B. Maclay Gardens State Park is stated to be a “masterpiece of floral architecture and rich history.” With its large shady oak trees, curated ornamental gardens, and beautiful views of Lake Hall and Lake Overstreet, it provides a nature escape for all. Once a lush Southern estate owned by a single family, it was donated to the state of Florida by the Maclay family after Alfred B. Maclay’s death in 1953. Since then, it has been maintained for the enjoyment of visitors and locals.

In this video, on a quick trip to Tallahassee, we visit this State Park to experience the gardens and a few of the trails. Starting at the entrance, we stroll through the historic gardens to showcase some of the design elements incorporated into these grounds. The grounds provide nature therapy and a beautiful escape if you’re from any of Florida’s large cities. If you’re looking for a place to walk along in nature, this place is worth a visit.

In addition to the gardens, the Alfred B. Maclay State Park also is home to a number of hiking trails, biking trails, and other activities that are overseen by the Florida State Parks Department. This vlog includes examples of Florida living and Florida life, things to do for day dates, and how to take advantage of all the neat experiences in your own backyard. It also tells the story of a gay couple enjoying the world as it should be – accepting of all. All people deserve to live a life full of love and belonging. Share love always.
