The Wars of Apostasy, also known as Ridda Wars, were a series of military conflicts that took place in the early Islamic period after the death of Prophet #Muhammad in 632 CE. The term "apostasy" refers to the act of abandoning or renouncing one's faith, and these wars were fought against individuals and tribes who had rejected Islam and refused to pay the zakat (a tax required of #Muslims).
After the Prophet's death, Abu Bakr, one of his closest companions and the first #caliph of #Islam, faced a challenge from several Arabian tribes who refused to pay the zakat and declared themselves independent from Medina. Abu Bakr responded by declaring war against them, and his armies succeeded in suppressing the rebellions and re-establishing Muslim authority over the Arabian Peninsula. The wars lasted from 632-634 CE and are considered a significant event in early Islamic history, as they helped to establish the authority of the caliphate and solidify the unity of the Muslim community.
