This week's song is dedicated to everyone who made the difficult choice to leave everything behind and make Aliyah.
Now Hashem said to Avram: ‘Go out out of your country, and away from your birth place, and away from your father’s house, to the land that I will show you.'
Leaving your comfort zone and moving to another country is hard.
You have to leave behind the culture you're used to (אַרְצְךָ).
You leave behind all the local knowledge you have about where the best place to buy this or that is, and all the friends and acquaintances you made along the way (מּוֹלַדְתְּךָ).
And you leave behind your family, your immediate support system, and you're forced to fend for yourself (בֵּית אָבִיךָ).
Sometimes, when things feel particularly tough, it's hard to remember that Hashem promises Avram that despite the difficulties, it's really לך - for you.
"Moving to Israel is for your own good," Hashem says, "and not just that, but it's for the good of your future generations too."
