Brrr.. it's still a bit too cold to work in the garage but I did manage to spend a few minutes measuring the crankshaft Timing Side (T.S.), Drive Side (D.S.) and big end journals.
BIG END JOURNAL DIAMETER MEASUREMENTS (inches):
T.S. (Timing Side)
Official:__________Bike (inside, middle, outside):
1.7500-1.7505____1.751-1.748-1.752*
D.S. (Drive Side)
Official:__________Bike (inside, middle, outside):
1.7500-1.7505____1.751-1.752-1.749*
CRANKSHAFT JOURNAL DIAMETER MEASUREMENTS:
T.S. (Timing Side)
Official:__________Bike (inside, middle, outside):
1.1807-1.1812____1.1815-1.1805-1.1805/1.1815*
D.S. (Drive Side)
Official:__________Bike (inside, middle, outside):
1.1812-1.1815 ____1.1815-1.182 across the whole journal*
The big end journals are a little out of tolerance but the T.S. and D.S. journals seem to be very close to tolerance.
*Please note that I only have a relatively inexpensive digital caliper and not a micrometer, so it may also be a little out. I will have the journals measured and ground professionally. The readings were also taken in a cold garage and not under standard measuring conditions (which I understand is 70F - thank you Paul), so that may well have distorted the readings.
Anyway, it was just a fun exercise to understand how far out the journals may be before sending them to be professionally evaluated.
