Описание: I recall sitting across from a travelling man in Grehans Pub, Boyle, Co Roscommon during the 1966 all-Ireland Fleadh Cheol . Every now and then he would break into a verse of a song, stopping only to take a slug of his pint, and away he'd go again. I was only 12 years old at the time but somehow his singing had made an impression on me and I never forgot him. I found out years later that his name was John {Jacko} Reilly and he was living in squalor on The Green In Boyle. But this gentle soul had something like 200 old Irish and English ballads ingrained in his brain and could sing from one to another all day long if the porter kept flowing. He was responsible for collecting and saving dozens of old ballads from extinction and this is one of those songs I recorded almost 50 years later. He passed away in his early 40s from malnourishment and then succumbed to pneumonia. Here's To You, Jacko Reilly. I think of you every time I sing this song.
