Neglected Silverado LM7 5.3L V8 Engine Teardown. Maintenance? Whats Maintenance?

After last weeks double-front wheel loader teardown, I needed something a little... how do I say this, easier? I needed a break so I fell back on one of the easiest engines I've done on the channel, a good ole LS architecture V8, the 5.3L Iron block LM7 found in 99-07 Silverado, Yukon, Tahoe, suburban, Sierra, avalanche and escalade.
This poor engine wasn't tortured, it was neglected. This scenario is absolutely 100% without a doubt avoidable with some CHEAP oil changes. This type of neglect will kill even the most resilient engines.
My name is Eric and I own and run a full service auto salvage business called Importapart located in the Saint Louis MO area. Part of our model is dismantling and selling parts from rare and niche market engines. I don't build or rebuild engines, we simply supply hard parts to those that do!
