We’ve waited a long time for the opportunity to work with Mike Nuzzo and we finally got it on the reimagined ‘Rolling Oaks’ course at Cabot Citrus Farms.
The Roost Course features rolling meadows, wildflowers, broad fairways, a 40-foot-deep sink hole and as the name suggests, a lot of oaks trees.
The design is inspired by Alister MacKenzie’s work at Augusta and the greens at North Berwick, along with large dramatic bunkers where the edges and forms are dictated by the terrain.
At the same time as we developed the animation, Mike and his co-designers Kyle Franz and Ran Morrissett were building the course and making a lot of changes in the field. So that our animation reflected the latest design, Mike gave us weekly updates and we adjusted our 3d model accordingly. It was a new way of working for us, but good experience and a lot of fun.
