When you purchase the Sartorius Practum precision scales with 1 gram, 0.1 gram or 0.01 gram readability you have a large weighing platform measuring 180 mm or 7.0 inches in diameter.

Sartorius Practum balances come with the Universal DC Power Adapter and multiple power plug adaptors, Quick Start Guide, Installation & Operating Instruction Manual & a single form fitted clear transparent plastic in-use cover. Taking the Sartorius Practum 5100-1S out of the box the digital balance is suspended with two(2) pieces of high density form. Sartorius does an excellent job with the packaging to insure your precision weighing instrument does not get damaged in transit. We always recommend you save the packaging if you ever need to transport the lab balance to another location or send in for service.

The universal power adapter (Sartorius part # 6971790) includes 6 different power plug adapters for use in the USA, Europe, UK, Australia, India, and South Africa. It is ingress protection certified IP40 for protection against dust and splashing liquid.

Push the tab on the AC adapter module and then slide the appropriate power plug adapter until it locks into position.

Now to setting up the Sartorius Practum 5100-1S. The in use dust cover dust cover should be installed. (You can order additional protective covers and the Sartorius part # is 6960SE02 but each cover cost $57). Next install the shield disk and turn this counterclockwise until it is securely in place. Then the pan support gets installed and finally the weighing pan.

The Installation & Operating Instruction Manual on page 5 covers everything we just demonstrated very well.

The top - Weighing pan, Pan support, Shield disk

The bottom, two[2] Leveling feet and a port for a below-balance weighing hook is located on the bottom of the balance.

To use the underhook - Lift cover plate out of the bottom of the balance.

Attach a wire (or similar) to the sample and hang it on the notched hook.

The foot print size is 8.6 x 14.1 x 3.75 inches W x D x H. So it is not a big scale, but it is also not small so consider if you have bench space.

Now I'll plug the AC adapter and turn on the balance. You see the power-up display, then you see the "leveling" screen to remind you to the scale. The balance must be level to ensure precise weighing results. Leveling the balance compensates for slant or unevenness at the place of installation by twisting the front leveling feet of the balance.

Press the check and now you are ready to weigh.

Press the lower left corner menu icon. Here you can configure the scale.
