You may have seen coping skills or emotion regulation strategies that work for others, but don't seem to work for you. This could be because an emotion regulation skill is not always suitable for our particular issue.
Say, if I work in an extremely toxic work environment, a breathing exercise may not help us manage our feelings because we constantly go back to the emotionally damaging space. In such cases, shifting our mindset about work, changing jobs, and setting boundaries whenever it is safely possible to do so might be better.
