The oil spill in Ennore continues to get worse with each passing day. The oil enters the Bay of Bengal via the Ennore Creek after traversing through the Buckingham Canal and the Kosasthalai river. The current in the Bay of Bengal flows southwards at this time of the year, which means that the contamination could spread south of Chennai, reaching Marina, ECR and other beaches. If not contained soon, the oil spill's impact could be even more devastating than it already is.
