Monkeypox virus outbreak: A concern or not?

Описание: Monkeypox is a rare viral disease that transmits from infected animals or humans to humans through direct skin contact, body fluids including respiratory droplets and contaminated materials etc.
It was first discovered in 1958 when outbreaks of a pox-like disease occurred in monkeys kept for research. The first human case was recorded in 1970 in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), and since then the infection has spread to central and western African countries.

The natural reservoir of monkeypox has not yet been identified, but researchers say it's most likely to be rodents. Various animal species have been identified as susceptible to monkeypox virus- squirrels, Gambian pouched rats, dormice, non-human primates and other species.
