Описание: For most, Brown’s Ferry, the historic crossing of the Tennessee west of Ross’s Landing (Chattanooga), could only be viewed from afar for decades, even a century or more. Essentially supplanted by new roads and a railroad it was largely unused by the time of the Civil War. By the early 1900s even the roads to it had largely ceased to exist. But, in the last three decades, the community driven effort to create the Moccasin Bend National Archeological District, the present battlefield preservation movement, and TOTA’s own efforts to bring the Trail of Tears National Historic Trail more fully into being has done much to bring that once significant crossing back to the present historic landscape. Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park Staff Historian Jim Ogden will relate recent and on-going efforts by the Friends of Moccasin Bend National Park (now National Park Partners-Chickamauga, Chattanooga, Moccasin Bend), the Civil War Trust (now American Battlefield Trust), Trail of Tears Association members, and the National Park Service that are increasingly allowing you, in several ways, to again be “on the road to Brown’s Ferry.”
